Ivinson Memorial Hospital is a community based hospital and the sole care center in rural Douglas County and the city of Laramie. Faced with challenges of competing systems attempting to draw patients away from the community, the board of directors approved a $35 million modernization plan.
The board hired Boldt to prepare the master facility plan and ultimately oversee the project, planning, design and construction as their Fee-for-Service Developer. The MFP evaluated the growth trends of the community, their current and future needs of each department, a comprehensive project budget and phasing schedule.
Boldt prepared, sent out and evaluated RFPs for all team members on the project, ultimately bringing together a team of international healthcare designers and one of the top healthcare contractors in the region.
The existing hospital was constructed in the 1970’s. Patient privacy and care quality were the primary concerns of the hospital. The new bed wing adds an additional 30 beds which allows the hospital to convert their existing patient rooms to single occupancy. The OR Suite will be completely gutted to include new PACU and pre/post op rooms. Ivinson is also planning to expand and upgrade two OR’s with new state-of-the-art equipment, integration systems and undergo a complete overhaul of the mechanical systems.
Boldt led the project team through design and has kept the project under budget while adding scope of additional patient rooms and areas of remodel. The construction is phased to keep the hospital open during the entire construction process.
