Boldt served as program manager for the $45 million expansion and renovation of Clinton Memorial Hospital. The expansion components included a same day surgery center with five ORs and an expanded emergency department and lab. A three-story, 72-bed inpatient tower with a 4-story atrium connect the new and existing buildings. The renovation included replacing air handling units, chillers and boilers and renovating the sleep lab, rehab, gift shop and cath lab.
After completing the expansion, Boldt was retained to prepare a master facility plan and provide program management services for a variety of small projects, including an ED renovation, an overhaul of the surgery department’s HVAC system, the build-out of a professional office building and the development of a new integrated cancer center.
The project was under development for four years and endured significant budget and schedule difficulties before Boldt was engaged. The budget and schedule were moving targets before that point.
A fixed total budget was established along with an overall project schedule. The cath lab and ER schedules were reduced by two months resulting in additional revenue for the hospital. In addition, Boldt successfully negotiated a compromise with the furniture manufacturer, fabric supplier and furniture vendor to replace 260 defective chairs with a better grade of fabric at no additional expense to the owner.
