Project Description

Built on the south 50 acres of a 93 acre site, the Redgranite Medium Security Correctional Institution project is made up of six buildings totaling 284,700 sq. ft. of space and capable of housing 1,070 inmates.

Included are an 11,300 sq. ft. warehouse/vehicle storage building, a 15,000 sq. ft. administration/gatehouse building, an 86,400 sq. ft. support services/ segregation building, a 7,200 sq. ft. physical plant building and two housing units totaling 164,800 sq. ft.

Expansion capabilities to the north 43 acres would provide for two additional housing units and an additional wing on the segregation building.

Key Points

  • The design/build team is made up of Boldt and Venture with an integration of both the State Department of Facility Development and the Department of Corrections representatives to ensure that the program needs of the users were met while maintaining bottom line budget commitments.
  • Boldt self-performed concrete, rough and finish carpentry and setting of hollow metal frames, doors and hardware.
  • An additional $3.8 million was added for a kitchen expansion.
