Xcel Energy is a major U.S. electric and natural gas company. They provide energy-related products and services to approximately 3.5 million electricity customers and 2 million natural gas customers through their four operating companies. Boldt was brought on to this project to not only create a new service center, but to also map out the sustainable initiatives necessary to achieve their LEED goals.

The new service center is a 34,000 sq. ft. building that has precast wall panels and metal decking. It includes:

  • 15,000 sq. ft. of office space

  • Locker rooms

  • Restrooms

  • Conference rooms

  • Service truck garage and repair bay

  • Warehouse with 24 overhead doors

  • Jib cranes

  • Trench drains

Boldt self-performed the concrete and some rough/finishing carpentry

LEED Features
Boldt provided LEED construction documentation, such as waste management, recycling, HVAC system and renewable materials. Boldt was responsible for understanding the composition of the products purchased on behalf of our customer and collecting the documentation which involved two very important components:

  • Having accurate and complete documentation for the products

  • Having product information early on when material purchases can be adjusted to help secure one or more LEED points
