Boldt awarded major school contract

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK,  July 8, 2019–The Boldt Company, celebrating its 35th year in Oklahoma, has been selected by Norman Public Schools to construct classroom and storm shelter additions at 16 elementary schools beginning in the spring of  2020.

Norman voters recently approved the 2019 bond proposal that calls for significant investments in the safety and security of students and staff, ensuring every school in the district has a storm shelter. The Boldt Company has made similar safety upgrades to schools in Broken Arrow, Bartlesville and Moore school districts.

In partnership with Boynton Williams & Associates – BWA Architects, Boldt will be responsible for preconstruction, site work and construction management / at risk services of the projects valued at approximately $27 million. In addition to storm shelters, security measures proposed for the schools include interior and exterior door enhancements, protective window film, security camera and alarm system upgrades, perimeter security, and health services equipment. Several schools would also receive multi-classroom additions, library renovations and parking improvements.

“It’s exciting to be selected to construct projects with the safety and security of the children as the top priority,” said Jeff Shipley, executive vice president and general manager of Boldt’s Southern Operations. “Boldt has been dedicated to improving the quality of public education facilities in Oklahoma for the past 35 years.”

Boldt’s Oklahoma-based office has a long history of rebuilding regional schools. Starting with the MAPS for Kids program, Boldt was one of the construction firms trusted with rebuilding Oklahoma City schools. Most notably, Boldt rebuilt Plaza Towers Elementary School which was destroyed by a tornado in 2013. Additional building projects have impacted school districts in:
