Wisconsin Public Service

Weston 4 Steam Turbine Installation

Rothschild, WI

Wisconsin Public Service has been serving customers and communities since a small gas company was formed in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, in 1883. Now based in Green Bay, it serves more than 437,000 electric customers in Wisconsin and 317,000 natural gas customers in Upper Michigan. The Weston 4 facility, a coal-fired power plant in Rothschild, is its largest project yet.

Serving as contractor, Boldt worked with Black & Veatch engineers to install a 670,000-pound, three-casing tandem compound steam turbine/generator, seven water treatment tanks, and auxiliary and conveyor equipment—all on schedule and under budget.

In addition, we constructed a railcar repair and protection facility, a new warehouse, and a pre-engineered building and enclosures for pumps, coal handling, water treatment and plant entrance. With its newest and largest facility in Rothschild, Wisconsin Public Service is assured of efficiently lighting and warming homes and businesses for years to come.
