Taycheedah Correctional Institution

Taycheedah, WI

The Taycheedah Correctional Institution project required the demolition of a 1900s concrete building and construction of two new buildings - without compromising the security or daily operations of the facility.

As general contractor, we worked with Venture Architects and Central City Construction, a minority-owned business, to design and build a two-story, 45,000 sq. ft. maximum security housing unit with common spaces for education, laundry, recreation, personal care, and food and medication distribution. The second building is a one-story, 45,000 sq. ft. special management facility that provides services to inmates suffering from mental illness, offering isolation and observation cells and visiting and office spaces.

Boldt used Lean Construction, a highly effective planning and scheduling management tool, during the design and construction phases to deliver this project in just 14 months. All work was completed inside the security perimeter on a fully functional correctional campus with no interruption of day-to-day operations.
