Replacement Hospital Campus

Elgin, IL

Named a "Company That Cares" several consecutive years for its commitment to employees and community, Sherman Health wanted a replacement hospital that not only improved the overall patient experience, but also was environmentally friendly. Because expansion opportunities were limited at the hospital's site, the new 255-bed facility was constructed a few miles away and the former site would be redeveloped.

Boldt represented the hospital owners in this project providing master planning services and helping to secure the Certificate of Need. Boldt was also responsible for overseeing the design, construction, medical equipment planning and transition from the old hospital to the new campus.

The new Sherman Hospital combines the latest in medical technology with responsible use of natural resources. Sitework included the creation of a 15-acre geothermal lake, allowing the use of the Earth's thermal properties to improve heating and cooling efficiencies, making this facility the largest healthcare project in the United States to utilize geothermal technology.

In addition to serving as program manager for the new hospital, Boldt is also Owner/Developer of the new medical office building that is attached to the hospital.
