Renovation and Expansion of Two High Schools

Brookfield, WI

The Elmbrook school district spent years assessing the growing needs of its student body, focusing largely on the modernization of two 1950s-era high schools. When a public referendum allowed the board to move forward, Boldt was chosen as program manager on the project, working closely with the district school board and the rest of the project team.

The two-phase project included gymnasium expansion at both schools, and interior remodeling to address multiple floor heights that needed renovation to provide access to all students. Flexibility was at the forefront of planning, with design geared toward meeting the evolving needs of educational processes as well as student demographics.

The resulting replacement of cramped, outdated facilities with two state-of-the-art learning centers was completed in time for fall school opening, within the budget set by the project owners and within the parameters of the referendum.
