Safety is a priority in any mining operation and Boldt’s rigorous commitment to safety during work on Kennecott Eagle Minerals Company’s (KEMC) Eagle Mine and Water Treatment Facility was no exception. Boldt was responsible for constructing a water treatment plant, power house, truck wash and other structural, mechanical and electrical work.
Ensuring area groundwater, streams, rivers and lakes remained protected from activities associated with mining was also a priority during the project. KEMC uses a state of the art reverse osmosis water treatment plant to purify water from operations (including rain and snow). The water is then returned to the environment through an infiltration system that slowly releases it back into existing groundwater.
