Key Points:

Boldt relocated the site utilities to allow access around the building once complete. This will also allow for easier expansion in the future. There were some security corridors that were not drawn to be secure. Boldt helped in the design of metal walls above the ceiling to create a secure corridor.

Pontotoc County

New Justice Center

Ada, OK

The secret of this project's success lay in two areas: continual communication with the city of Ada and the Pontotoc County Commissioners board, and the foresight and flexibility to address future growth.

As general contractor, Boldt oversaw the fast-track construction of the Justice Center, while the adjacent Pontotoc County Fairgrounds remained operational throughout the project. Working alongside Architects in Partnership, we coordinated with the city to allow voluntary inspections throughout the building process and maintained daily communication with the board to make sure the owners' needs were being met.

The finished Justice Center includes a large lobby, courtroom and video-visitation room, as well as dorms, where inmates are placed according to their threat levels. Originally designed to house 152 inmates, the county elected to cost-effectively allow for expansion and built it to house 200. In another effort aimed at future expansion, we relocated site utilities, which also allows for easier access around the building.
