Powder Metal Molding Plant

Menomonie, WI

Located on a 5-acre site outside of Menomonie, Wisconsin, the Phillips Plastics Company powder metal molding facility is one of only two facilities in the world that produce this unique and versatile product.

Our task at Boldt was to design/build a structure that would fully support the highly specialized manufacturing processes, involving, among other things, a complex array of process piping for sintering and debind operations -- and they needed it up and running quickly.

Our solution was a 33,000 sq. ft. facility of tube steel frame and clear span trusses sheathed by a curtain wall system of metal panels and glass. A single-ply membrane roof with a continuous skylight of translucent panels flows through office spaces and into manufacturing areas for maximum daylighting. The open-concept interior of glass-panel partitions and exposed ceiling structure adds to visual appeal and collaborative working atmosphere.

Fast-tracked, the facility was completed in less than a year, well within budget parameters.
