When world-class plastics and metals injection molding firm Phillips chose to add another manufacturing facility to the 12 already in Wisconsin, they envisioned something unique. A seven-acre site overlooking a scenic northern lake had been chosen and architects Krueck & Sexton had designed an open-concept facility, with plenty of skylights and glass.

Our task was to maintain the architectural integrity of the 80,000 sq. ft. structure, while also looking for ways to implement value engineering and Lean Construction opportunities.

With our technical experts collaborating closely with the architects, we helped bring to life a building that eventually earned an American Institute of Architects Distinguished Building Award.

Strong tube-steel framing and clear-span trusses support a curtain wall system of metal panels and fritted glass that allows light in but keeps heat out. Interior partitions made mostly of glass and exposed ceilings contribute to unobstructed views and lend an airy feeling to the interior. Stonewalls and patios greet both the visitor and employee entries. Both site and structure have been designed to quickly add another 30,000 sq. ft.
