Our Lady of Lourdes Church
Addition and Renovations
De Pere, WI
Our Lady of Lourdes is the result of merging two parishes, St. Boniface and St. Joseph, each of which has been serving the greater De Pere community since the late 1800s. Consolidating into a new worship community required member participation to ensure the finished project would reflect the history and traditions of both parishes.
As construction manager and general contractor, Boldt worked with Plunkett Raysich Architects and provided value management, ensuring a maximum of features and amenities at a minimum of cost. Boldt also provided coordination and management of programming, design intent, engineering, interior and liturgical design, and construction.
The new church community has a 1,200-seat sanctuary, a day chapel, a gathering area, a new bell tower and multipurpose spaces. To extend an "inclusive" feel, the sanctuary was designed with the altar in the center and pews on all sides.
In a final, lasting acknowledgement of their individual histories, elements of the two parishes, such as original Stations of the Cross and tower bells, were incorporated into the new church. Steel trusses line the sanctuary ceiling, reflecting the Catholic Church's roots in Gothic cathedral architecture.
