Benton County Wind Farms, located in Earl Park, Indiana, is a place where earth-friendly power is being sold to utility companies in an attempt to lower energy costs and reduce greenhouse gas emission.
As erection contractor, Boldt worked with Alliant Energy/RMT to erect and install 87 turbines. The enormous components for this project required special transportation efforts, including two 440-ton cranes to lift the 125,000-lb. aerodynamic nacelles, the structures that house the generating components.
This fast-paced project required the erection of two completed turbines per day, and with Boldt's expertise and experience in the wind energy industry, it was completed within the project's parameters.
