Corridor and Multi-Building Remodel

Marquette, MI

When Northern Michigan University was building the Berry Events Center, home to its basketball, hockey and speed-skating teams, the campus needed renovations to effectively support and connect to the new center.

In our role as construction manager and general contractor, we worked with architects Integrated Designs, Inc. to renovate two buildings and construct a corridor for the complex.

The 20,000 sq. ft., two-level enclosed corridor houses the Wildcat Club room for the hockey team, a student learning center and a food service area. It joins the Berry Center to the existing Physical Education and Instructional Facility, which required updates to HVAC systems, lighting and interior. The nearby McClintock Building for the arts received new air-handling and lighting systems and interior renovations.

Key to this complex project's success was collaborative and open communications, ensuring all projects were on schedule and within budget, and implementing measures to maintain safety and minimize disruption.
