Key Points:

The new construction phase, as was the case during phase I, interfaces with the existing hospital in a number of areas, which remains operational throughout the construction process. CMH decided to hire locally as much as possible in executing their master plan, gaining strong support from community, business and government members.

Community Memorial Hospital

Master Plan - Phase II Addition

Cloquet, MN

The Cloquet area is growing and Community Memorial Hospital (CMH) is growing with it. After phase I’s completion in 2004, Boldt has now started work on phase two of CMH’s expansion and modernization plan aimed at expanding services the hospital offers the community.
CMH and Boldt broke ground on phase II in summer of 2011; beginning the three-story, 80,000 sq. ft. addition and 20,000 sq. ft. remodel which will further enable the hospital to deliver state-of-the-art health care despite its rural setting.
Major aspects of phase II involve upgrading and expanding the inpatient rooms and intensive care, labor and delivery, dietary and physician spaces. The new space will also house a much needed dialysis unit, eliminating many patients’ frequent commutes to Duluth for treatment.
Boldt’s long-term relationships with the hospital and Cloquet community have aided in keeping everyone involved on the same page to make sure phase II turns out as well as phase I did.
