Construction Manager General Contractor

Key Points:

The existing brick was taken off for the classroom addition and replaced with stone to match the rest of the church. Boldt's stone masons had to custom-hone each stone to copy size and scale. In many cases, such as window sills, jambs, heads, and especially the main entry archway, the architect trusted us to create stone shop drawings. Boldt received the Craft Award sponsored by the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers for Best National Stone Project.

First English Lutheran Church

Renovations and Expansion

Appleton, WI

First English Lutheran Church has two locations in Appleton, offering diverse worship styles while maintaining a unified community. Complementing a new facility is this downtown church, built during the Great Depression, that offers a rich tradition and history, yet needed additional space for education and ministry.

Chosen as construction manager and general contractor, Boldt worked with Miller Wagner Coenen architects to provide schematic design services for a 14,000 sq. ft. addition and renovation of existing school and office space. To match the church's time-honored stone exterior, our masons created stone shop drawings and custom-honed each piece used on the addition to correct size and scale.

The church's new addition provides 13 classrooms dedicated to Sunday school studies, a choral music room designed for the Arthur Krempin School of Music and Art, and ample office space.

The project received a Craft Award sponsored by the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers for Best National Stone Project.
