Architect:The Boldt Company
Distribution Center Expansion
Designed and built by Boldt to FedEx specifications, this 51,000 sq. ft. expansion increased the capacity of what was already a major hub for the global shipper.
The structure features a pre-engineered structural steel frame supported by conventional reinforced concrete foundations and slab-on-grade. Twenty-one shipping and receiving docks, seven drive-in doors, and more than 5,000 sq. ft. of administrative offices round out the project.
Designing the facility to support a proprietary workflow system, while still meeting zoning and other requirements, was one of our greater challenges. Framing locations and mechanical/electric systems were planned well in advance, ensuring that FedEx's highly complex packaging conveyor network was allowed to operate to its fullest potential.
Boldt's technical specialists also made certain the original FedEx schematic documents complied with state and local code requirements and industrial park ordinances.
