New Integrated Taconite and Steel Plant
Nashwauk, MN
A history of building challenging mining projects in Northeastern Minnesota on the Iron Range, led Boldt to its role as construction manager for Essar Steel Minnesota’s new integrated taconite and steel plant.
Close collaboration with the owners and others involved, such as earthwork subcontractor Veit Companies, was critical to the progress made as well as site safety on this project.
Boldt’s work started in the fall of 2008 and included preparation of the 305-acre site for multiple building foundations, railroad infrastructure, a 1.5-mile long, 240-foot wide corridor connecting the Crusher area to the Pellet Plant area.
