Tandem Coater Project
Combined Locks, WI
Coated free sheets, a product of Appleton Coated, are used in high-quality periodicals and catalogs, marketing materials and annual reports. In order to stay competitive at a time when many areas of the paper industry struggle, Appleton Coated made an investment in rebuilding an existing coater into a tandem coater that nearly doubles capacity.
With decades of experience in the pulp and paper industry, Boldt put its specialized skills to work for Appleton Coated, helping them to reduce costs and maximize production efficiencies.
As construction manager and general contractor, we expertly managed scheduling and budgets, while self-performing civil, masonry, concrete, millwright, equipment installation and optical alignment services.
Working alongside Marathon Engineers/Architects/Planners LLC, we ensured Appleton Coated had the capabilities it needed in today's paper market. The scope of the project included installation of an automated empty spool return system, roll wrapper line, waste treatment sludge press and two 30-ton bridge cranes.
