Ivinson Memorial Hospital Brings Boldt on Board for Large Expansion

Master planning effort leads to Boldt's role as owner's representative

Ivinson Memorial Hospital has announced The Boldt Company as owner’s representative for its $36 million, four-phase expansion and renovation project.

The project is complex, including construction of a three-story patient tower with 30 private rooms and renovations to surgery, laboratory, rehab and extended care areas, but Boldt’s history with the hospital and health care industry as a whole has facilitated a smooth start.

Previously, Boldt was involved in development of the hospital’s master facility plan to prepare the organization for future growth. The detailed plan, now being undertaken, allows Ivinson Memorial to build new and update existing facilities, all while keeping the hospital fully functional.

Boldt’s familiarity with the master plan has expedited the process of selecting architectural, engineering and construction firms and has also helped to meet specific project challenges.

For example, renovation of the surgical suite will convert four undersized operating rooms to three larger, state-of-the-art rooms capable of a wider range of procedures. In addition, each level in the new tower will have private patient rooms and the surgical beds will then be located on the same floor as the surgical suite.

"Working with Ivinson Memorial has been a very positive experience since the beginning, which I think is largely because of great communication both ways and our strong history of collaboration with the hospital" said Ken Greve, Boldt’s executive vice president. "We’re excited to get underway and help turn the master plan into a reality."

The project began in October, 2011 and has an anticipated completion date of January, 2016.
