Health Center
Boldt has undertaken construction of the new 120,917 sq. ft. Mental Health Center for the citizens of Brown County, Wisconsin. The state-of-the-art facility will combine a 63-bed skilled nursing facility, a 35-bed adult psychiatric hospital, and an outpatient clinic capable of supporting up to 125 clients per day. The center has been designed as an innovative “village style” campus, consisting of “neighborhoods” of 10 to 11 residents each. Residents in the nursing facility will have private rooms while sharing common living areas. Efficiency and comfort is a primary goal, with low-energy HVAC and natural lighting schemes adding to soothing earth tone colors.

Sustainable Features
Site plan design limits disruption of natural hydrology by reducing impervious cover, increasing on-site infiltration and managing storm water runoff.

Special low-flow plumbing fixtures reduce water consumption by more than 30% over standard fixtures, exceeding mandates set by the Environmental Protection Agency.
Construction materials have on average more than 10% recycled content, reducing impact resulting from extraction and processing of virgin materials.

Heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems have been designed to be over 20% more energy efficient than industry standards require.
Limits for building and roads conserve existing natural areas, promoting biodiversity, and exceeding local green space requirements by 25%.

Preferred parking for low-emitting and fuel efficient vehicles is included for 5% of the total vehicle parking capacity of the site.
Interior and exterior lighting schemes minimize trespass of light to outside of building and off of the project site, helping eliminate unwanted glare.

As much waste from construction as possible will be recycled, resulting in a landfill disposal diversion rate of from 50% to 70%.
