Project Description
Manitowoc Public Utilities built a new 63.4 MW petroleum coke-fired power-generating unit. The expansion burns 100% low-cost coal and petroleum coke, enhancing power reliability to the community.


Key Points: Boldt successfully bid three packages for this project, which included full responsibility for budget and scheduling. Package 1: demolition of the oil boiler/turbine room foundations, installation of the new circulating water line, boiler, turbine, baghouse, and plant equipment foundations. Package 2: erect the steel for the boiler and turbine generator building, installation of all pressure parts of the circulating fluid bed boiler and installation of a 65 MW steam turbine. Package 3: installation of coal and limestone handling equipment, electrical system plant controls, and equipment (air compressor, feed water treatment, fire protection and steam and condensate systems, condenser, heat exchangers, emission monitoring and ash handling systems, transformers, 50-ton overhead crane and ammonia system for the SCR).
